71st Golden Globe Nominations 2014 The List A Dash Of My Ranting

And so it begins. Sports fans have the World Series and The Super Bowl...And we, The Film and TV lovers...we have "The Golden Globes"...where both industries...Television and Film... are recognized together,

as they should be.

The Oscars are, well in my opinion...a political high school popularity contest where Academy Members, whoever the hell they are, vote a new round of people into their elite club every year.

They invest in the winners, allow them to cary the a new surname if you will... "Academy Award Winner"... before their name is mentioned from then on...in all press...to the end of time.

But that game is fixed people. I came to that conclusion when i was 16 and I watched "Dances With Wolves" beat "Goodfellas" for the best picture of 1991.  Argue if you want, but which film are we still talking about?

or...when "Malcolm X" was ignored for best picture? Ignored? Are you blind? Denzel Washington lost to Al Pacino...who won an Oscar for doing his new "I scream when I talk" thing in "Scent Of A Woman"...

or when "Pulp Fiction" lost to "Forrest Gump" ? One of those films changed the face of filming forever...one was a nice movie.

Anyway, sorry...I could go on...and I will, but not today.

Today i want to get a few gripes out...about who was snubbed for this list.

In the list of nominations below there seem to be some flaws. i'm trying not to curse as much as my SwePea says it's not nice.

But where the fuck are the nominations for:

  • "Homeland"
  • "Game Of Thrones"
  • "Sons Of Anarchy"?
  • Charlie, Claire, Damian,
  • MICHELLE FAIRLEY?????? the Red Wedding episode alone should have guaranteed her a nod...WTF

On the very big plus side...

  • Tatiana Maslany for "Orphan Black"...now....thats some justice.
  • Idris Elba is getting some accolades finally for his work..."Luther" gets nominated!
  • Joaquin Phoenix back in the game with Spike Jonez "Her"!
  • Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul for "Breaking Bad"...but no Anna Gunn? WTF!!!!!!!
  • James Spader for "Blacklist" nice!
  • Jessica Lange for "American Horror Story: Coven"...why is that a Mini-Seroies exactly?  Because each season deals with new story? Hmm.
  • Amy Adams for "American Hustle"
  • Edie Falco for "Nurse jackie" or Nurse Jack as I refer to it
  • Alfonso Cuaron for "Gravity"
  • Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf Of Wall Street" for best COMEDY picture...hmm
  • Sundance Channel in the running with "Top Of The Lake"
  • Showtimes "Masters Of Sex"...let me tell you something...that show gets under my skin man, i kind of want to slap Michael Sheen for being such a dick. Thats good acting boy.
  • The damn good Monica Potter on "Parenthood"...my God she can act.
  • Ron Howards "Rush"...now according to this list, this is one of the best movies of the year. I can't say myself.
  • The Masterful "Downton Abbey" is up for best drama series.
  • Foreign Language...."Blue is the Warmest Color" or "La vie d'Adele, chapitres 1 et 2"!
  • and Sandra Bullock for "Gravity"...incidentally, Angelina was up for that role...that would have made a very different movie. Some people may have wanted her to get stuck out there. Just saying.

Anyway, here you go. no need to go elsewhere...I put the entire list below.
