Meryl Streep
2017 Golden Globes Speech

What Up Yo.

Meryl Streep

Meryl was the recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.

Established in 1952, this award is:

“An honorary Golden Globe Award bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment” • Wikipedia

She accepted the honor with the same fervor that earned her the highly coveted lifetime achievement award.

Her acceptance speech.

Streep took a moment to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press…and then spoke of he who who will not be named to a silent, respectful audience. An audience she held in the palm of her hand.

I mean, she is the Queen.

Like Carly Simon sang:

“Nobody Does It Better…”

Now, we’re only a few days into 2017, but if what The President Of The United States Of America tweeted in response is any indication of what the next 4 years will be like…

Well, we will all be laughing a lot.

Thats may be the  best sone of us can hope for…

Now, the Donald responded,  but more importantly so did Bobby D.

Robert De Niro wrote a letter to Meryl,  celebrating Streep for her honesty.  as she  accepted the prestigious award.  Instead of speaking about herself she stood on stage in front of hundreds i the audience and the millions ornate people watching and spoke about an issue very close to her heart…an issue that affects all of us.

Legend to legend,  Robert De Niro  wrote the following to her:

Meryl –

What you said was great. It needed to be said, and you said it beautifully. I have so much respect for you that you did it while the world was celebrating your achievements. I share your sentiments about punks and bullies. Enough is enough. You, with your elegance and intelligence, have a powerful voice – one that inspires others to speak up as they should so their voices will be heard too. It is so important that we ALL speak up.

We love you.

Bob
