What Up Yo.
This is one of my favorite videos.
From the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, The Killers, this was the first single off of Brandon Flowers first solo album, Flamingo.
It’s called Crossfire. This is the music video for it.
Starring a hard-core (well, when is she not) Charlize Theron saving her love ❤ time after time from life threatening situations, it’s a wonderful juxtaposition on the normal “Damsel in Distress” scenario we’ve all had shoved down our throats for as long as I can remember.
The video was directed by Nash Edgerton, brother of Australian actor Joel Edgerton. Nash is one of Hollywoods top stuntmen.
The song was produced by Brendan O’Brien, who has worked with bands Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden and my boys from Seattle…
Pearl Jam.
O’Brien is the one the band went to after 1991’s Ten was mixed not to their liking. He came onboard with the band for their next album, Vs., to produce the bands music as they wanted it to sound, and would ultimately stay with them for the next 20 years.
Brenan O’Brien acting as a producer for Pearl Jam’s:
- Vs. 1993
- Vitalogy 1995
- No Code 1996
- Yield 1998
- Backspacer 2009
- Ten Redux 2009
- MTV Unplugged 2009
- Vs. Remaster 2011
- Vitalogy 2011
- Lightning Bolt 2013
Pearl Jam had O’Brien remix Ten in 2009, naming the new mix Ten Redux. The deluxe edition of the album would also feature O’Brien’s remix of Pearl Jam’s seminal MTV Unplugged performance from 1992 along with mixing the previously unreleased Drop In The Park live album on vinyl. This was the final show in Pearl Jam’s tour for Ten in 1992. It was a homecoming show, a free live concert in Seattle to close out the exahausting and legendary tour.
I just turned this into a Pearl Jam article.
I digress…
Back to Flowers Crossfire Video, the one in distress here is Brandon Flowers.
I celebrate the video.
It is seven years old, it’s taken me a while to put it up…
But it’s one of those videos I’ve always meant to showcase here.
Hope you dig it.
