What up yo.
In true Mad Men style, here is a ridiculously short teaser, in slow motion no less, of Don getting off a plane.
I’ve been watching Mad Men since season 1. Not many were tuning in at that point, it was hard to find people to talk to about it. But I just had to, it was so good. The storytelling in that unfolded that first season was extraordinary.
Learning about Dons true identity, Peggy pregnancy, Joan…just Joan man, Betty driving her car onto someone’s lawn with the kids inside and Roger making a heavy pass at Betty one night he was over for dinner…then his eloquent and indirect apology the next day… The series was alive and confident.
It was gold, but it was off the radar. AMC hadn’t done a scripted series yet, most people didn’t know it existed.
I bought the Blu-ray set the day it was released and to my surprise, the show was filmed and looked incredible in 1080P HD. Within a few years the show became well known, it was only a matter of time. It was during the second season that I began to see commercials for a new show AMC was currently filming.
They showed some footage of a man in the desert in his underwear. It would be on the following year, and it was to be called “Breaking Bad”
We all know the rest.
At the close of last seasons “Mad Men” Don’s increasingly erratic behavior has gotten him all but fired from the advertising company.
In the final moments, Don kicks open the door to his past and brings his kids to the threshold to see the house he grew up in. His daughter Sally looks at her father confused, then beginning to understand…with her eyes she asks him:
“Really?”
He responds with his eyes and says:
”Yes. I want to let you in”
This is the first footage we see of the new and final season of this landmark show. It’s extremely short and frustrating, but beautiful, mysterious and 100% Mad Men.
