OK It’s over
Trump won. He will be the 45th President of the United States of America.
Now.. I have no business telling any of you what to feel or how to act. If you come to Voices, you come to read about film or television or music, not to read some blogger/podcaster talk to you about polictics.
But voices will be voices, and despite what I may be feeling, happiness or complete fucking despair, I myself will stand behind the new commander-in-chief.
I wouldn’t dare ask any of you to do the same, but I wanted to write that here because I believe it’s the only way to make us Americans whole again as a nation.
It’s the only way to end the divide that has been created.
I’m going to give this man a chance in my heart and hope, or pray, that we see some positive changes for the people who call America home.
God bless America.

Yo. What up.
So…
In regards to the election:
I don’t know much about politics, just get that out of the way.
I’m not a man who can have an intellectual conversation about Trumps foreign policy agenda or Hillarys stance on the North Korea testing nuclear weapons, or wether either of them have any clue what it’s like to be a civilian in America, if they ever did.
That being said, I am opinionated.
While I normally restrict Voicing my opinions to Film, Television & Music…
I’m going to voice my opinion about the 2016 Presidential Election for a minute or five.
Take a step back and put it into perspective.
I’ve never seen an election cause the massive divide amongst Americans that the Clinton V Trump power struggle has created.
Have you noticed how many people are talking about what they don’t like about Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton, instead of the what they admire about either candidate?
This race has deteriorated to a school yard brawl, with us all now focusing on the negative.
Personally, I don’t give a shit who you vote for.
I love you all either way.
Don’t fall trap to the hate…because Wednesday…the divide between amongst us all will still be in full effect.
That’s how damaging the negative press and media bombardment against both candidates has been.
We’re better than this America.
This is supposed to be a government created by the people…for the people.
But we haven’t had a choice in any of this. Election day is the only choice we have.
And most of us don’t trust either of these candidates.
So I say:
- Keep your wits about you
Don’t judge:
- Your brothers and sisters
- Your family or friends
Don’t feed this idiotic, juvenile divide.
Because it’s not tomorrow I fear, it’s Wednesday.
That’s when the winner will most likely be decided (could be next month though, you never know) and the losing side may be claiming:
“It’s a fixed race!!”
That’s when the true divide will begin. And we will all be left with the fallout from the year plus of negative press this media circus has dumped on our door steps.
We the people are better than them.
I hope we rise above.
“You may say I’m a dreamer…
But I’m not the only one.
I hope someday you’ll join us…
And the world will live as one.”
- John Lennon “Imagine”, 1971
